What’s Happening @ Your Libraries

With Morgan County remaining Level 3 (Red) on the Ohio Public Health Advisory System, your libraries will continue to be closed for browsing.  However, we are still here to serve all of your informational needs.  McConnelsville Library is open for curbside, Monday through Friday, 9 am to 6 pm.  Chesterhill Branch is providing curbside service, Monday through Friday, 10 am to 5 pm.  Please call the library to make arrangements to pick up your items or stop by the library entrance for assistance with copying, printing, faxing, or other library services.

We are now circulating Wi-Fi hotspots from two different service providers.  Please give us a call to see if one of these devices might work for you.  Hotspots can be checked out for two weeks and provide Internet access for you in areas that are within reach of the service provider’s coverage area.  Devices are available via curbside pickup.  Get connected at your libraries!

Interested in home delivery?  We have you covered!  Mena and Tom are on the road each Wednesday delivering items to patrons.  We visit a different area of the county each week.  Once on a route, we will visit your residence, business, and/or organization the same Wednesday of each month.  There are no requirements for this service, other than you must live in Morgan County.  Let the library come to you!  Please remember that if Morgan Local Schools are closed for inclement weather, the Bookmobile route will be cancelled.  Please call and speak with Mena, if you have questions and/or would like to be a library destination.

Interested in participating in a Book Club?  Join us the first Thursday of each month via Zoom to talk with others and share your reactions of that month’s selected title.  Sarah and Cheryl have chosen “Educated: a Memoir” by Tara Westover for March’s discussion.  Please visit either location to check out a copy or visit your library website to download it digitally.  We hope to resume in person book club, as well as other programming upon reopening and when we can safely do so.

Sarah and Cassie created fantastic craft kits for March.  Be sure to grab one before they are gone.  Adults can try their hand at cross stitch, while Kate’s Kids crafters create their very own leprechaun traps, just in time for St. Patrick’s Day.  Kits are available for curbside pickup at both library locations.  Look for a new craft kit each month!  April planning has already begun.

Looking to plan a family movie night during this cold, wintry weather?  We’re on it!  During the month of March, call either library location and request a movie pack for curbside pickup.  You will receive a movie, three picture books of a similar theme to the included movie, a bag of microwave popcorn, as well as hot cocoa mix.  Family movie night kits are pre-prepared and will include a movie that is rated G or PG.  You may request which rating you prefer.  (We are sorry, but we cannot accommodate specific movie or book requests as part of the kit.)  Enjoy the surprise!

Missing preschool story time?  Cassie is now offering a weekly program via Zoom.  Please call the library for more details and to register.  This virtual event will be held each Wednesday beginning at 10 am.  Join us for stories, songs, and other interactive activities.

We continue to follow the necessary guidelines set forth by the State of Ohio and our local Health officials to ensure that we continue to maintain a safe and healthy environment for patrons and staff members.  Thank you for supporting your local libraries.  Please reach out to us for any assistance you may need.  We look forward to seeing you when we are able to reopen.   Stay safe everyone and Happy Reading!

We look forward to serving all of you at your Kate Love Simpson Library Morgan County Libraries.
